Hope this helps. This is something that they are working on but I am not sure if they have found the definite fix. It's not something that generally affects the 2010 models that I know of but it is a issue with the 2011's...

Have you taken it to the dealer yet?
Never had a stall out but rough idle at times.
I took my Terrain in last firday and they must have loaded an updated cal as it runs a lot better and idles just fine with ECO and the AC on.
It also seems that cruse control handles hill a little better then it did.

Dont know if thats a fix or not..yet..
I just talked to a GM Business Resource Rep, regarding my Rattling startup noise..There is no fix for it yet..
mine did stall out and gave engine code P0011. it was related to the Cam issues, which they think is the issue with the rattling noise..

What I've noticed is just the opposite, on another forum dedicated to the Nox/Terrain it seems only people with 2011 models are complaining about this. Something to do with the timing chain tensioners...mabe they changed specs or parts suppliers for 2011? I know that 2011 models had a recall for seatbelt latches that didn't affect 2010's.....different parts supplier.

Yeah I think that we are on the same page. I was saying the 2011's are the problems...

We just bought our 2011 Equinox about a month ago and we are having some issues with it already. First off it makes a bad rattling noise when we start it up. Second my wife was driving it to day and she told me it stalled on her while she was driving. Ive already taken it to the dealership twice, but get the same answer "We are waiting for GM to come out with a fix for it". I really upset that nothing can be done to fix the problem. The stalling issue is what really scares me just because it can be dangerous if it stalls at the wrong time.
I had all the same issues as you djvsantana....rattling startup stalling and a check engine..
Last Tech Bull. from GM was ..we are aware of the problem, have no fix yet.
Im going in on monday to have the oil pump replaced..GM is saying this is the fix now..though, I have not seen or heard that from anyone else...others are getting the actuators and solenoids replaced and a new calibration done..I will talk to the dealer in the morning regarding those fixes..
So I dont think they really have an answer really yet...

that is also the issue with the Terrains..(2.4L I-4 engine)...mine went into the shop for a 3rd time on 6/27/11..was told "GM is aware of the problem, working on a fix"..
Mine is in the dealer now for what I was told is the fix..replacing the oil pump..But I have also heard others say that GM is now saying replacing cam parts and updated calibration...
I'm having the same rattling noise on my 2011 4 cyl equinox. started a couple of weeks ago with only 500 miles on it. brought it in finally last week. they said it was the timing chain tensioner. they replaced it and said I was good to go. started it up the next morning and same rattling noise. It's happened 4 times over this past weekend. My car is at dealer again now. They don't know what it is and won't even acknowledge that GM is aware of the problem
Tell them that GM is aware of the issue, just dont have a fix yet..though The GM Business Resource rep that Im dealing with on this issue says its the Oil Pump..mine is in now getting that replaced. BUT nobody else with this issue has been told oil pump...and others are being told actuators and solenoids and updated calibration..so there are several fixes...I guess they just dont know which one it is!
there has been several GM Tech Bulletins out on this issue..rattling startup noise..and some also have stalling and engine codes 0011 and 0014 along with the rattling.. The latest bulletin that I have seen, (and I got it from my Dealer) is stating that GM is aware of the issue.and working on a solution..I was told I would be notified when they have a fix..which is what its in the dealer for now.

They need to ask Z_ghost what they did to fix the rattle on his ride... Maybe that would help.
Well it did not do it for 3 weeks then did it when it started it up one morning.
It does not do it as often as it used to but it will still do it from time to time.
Still not stalling problems and I got 26.6 last week.
