I bought a certified new owned 2015 Chevy equinox. At 89,000 the pcv valve blew and I needed a new motor. It was under warranty but they fought me and tried to say I didn't change my oil. Which was not true! I always maintain my vehicles. Now it's at 150,000 and I have to ride around with a quart of oil in my truck to put in at least weekly. There is no leak anywhere visible but the oil consumption is ridiculous. Worst car I ever bought and they will do nothing.

Assuming no obvious oil leak, then the oil may be getting past the oil control rings on the pistons, and burning. I haven't tried it yet myself, but there is a new valvoline "restore and protect" that several of the oil experts have reviewed, and said it does an amazing job of removing deposits, especially around the piston rings. The oil meets all dexos specs, so even if it doesn't solve anything, it's still a decent modern synthetic, so it might be worth a try for a couple oil changes to see if it helps at all. I've always sworn by my Penzoil platinum and ultra platinum, but I'll be switching over to the valvoline restore and protect for my next couple changes on my 180k 2017 equinox.
