205 - EGR pipe cracked - confusion over replacement part

Helping my neighbor with his 2005 Equinox. His EGR pipe has a crack in it, trying to save him some money and get a replacement part. When I look up the parts, e.g. GM 12602507, it says "used after retrofit kit has been installed". He has no clue if the retrofit kit was installed. From these pictures, can you tell if the 12602507 part will fit? Thanks.

Did some research, that looks like the original Delphi 'vertical connector' EGR valve. Only option seems to be to replace by Siemens 'horizontal connector' EGR valve, new pipe, new connector and rewiring, and dealer PCM reprogram. Isn't that special! Relacement pipes for the Delphi appear to be unobtainable.

you can see the tube inlet is lower on egr. and the elec plug is now horizontal where the old style egr has a vertical elec plug.
l have replaced them and no programming is required

Yes, the old egr tube you have is 12” long and new style is 10.5” approx. so you need a new style egr valve that works with it. a new egr and tube is $125? not real hard to find a good used one at junkyard for $25 if you feel like it.

Thanks for reply. I will call Chevy dealer to see if they can still reprogram the PCM on a 2005 car.

Thanks, i just ordered a retrofit kit. Will try it first without PCM reprogam, hope it works and no CEL.

On my 2008 3.4 V6 my EGR pipe cracked and I replaced the pipe only. Got the part from Rock Auto.

Kit came on Tuesday, picked up the Equinox just now from my neighbor, will retrofit either today or tomorrow. Just flooded the rusty nuts/bolts with PB Blaster.

Kit is installed. Threw away the crimp connectors that came with the kit and soldered the new connector wires plus heatshrink over each wire. Did not get the PCM reprogrammed, hope the CEL stays off.
