2023 Equinox High Intensity Light Noise

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a loaner 2023 Equinox that is equipped with the LED headlights, and every time I open the door or press the start button there is this whirling under the hood. Also, when shutting the vehicle off, there is the same sound. Is this normal?

Mine always did that. Not sure why, but they just do.

The HID also known as Bi Xenon headlamps that my 2021 LT use, have a mechanical shutter for hi/low beam that can make a click/buzz noise.

The 2022-23 use all LED not HID.

I think the whirring noise you are hearing is the active grille shutters doing their self test thing.

Thanks folks for the feedback. The sound is coming from the device right behind the headlights. It is silver and looks like it has cooling fins. So, that is why I wonder if there is a fan somewhere in there. I cannot seem to locate an exploded view of this area in order to give a precise description or part that I think is the culprit. There is one on each side though, so I'm still looking.

It's a new car to me, so still getting use to the 'noises'. It just seems odd. One side (passenger) is definitely louder than the other (driver).

If I unlock my car to release the hood latch, when I pen the hood i can hear some whirring etc. Same as when I turn the car off. I never worried about it. A few years back I would have been bird dogging the heck out of it! Good luck on your quest.
