I have had my 2025 Equinox for less than three weeks, and on Thursday, all of my tires were showing 31 or 32 PSI. I topped all of them off to 41, which is what is recommended. By that evening, one of them was showing 20 PSI. I took it to the dealer the next day and was told there was something embedded in that tire, and it was unfixable. No replacement tire to be found in the state, so one is coming from out of state next Monday or Tuesday. In the mean time, I am driving on the tiny, rinky-dink spare tire. What are the odds of both of these events occurring on the same day, especially with the car being brand new?Something is not ringing true here. Plus I have to pay for the new tire, minus the $150 covered by the warranty.

Sorry to hear about your tire. That type of damage to a tire is usually not covered under tire manufacturers warranty unless you purchase additional insurance for damage other than manufacturers defects.
As far as tire pressure is concerned, inflate your tires to the pressure listed on the label attached to the drivers door jamb. It probably will suggest 35 psi. The 41 psi stamped on the tire is the maximum psi, not what's best for your Equinox.

41 Psi is what is on the door of the 2025 Equinox LT! I don’t think the pressures were checked before I took delivery. Plus,,they were supposed to put Nitrogen in, which wasn’t done.

Ah ok, wouldn't have thought that would be the suggested pressure but they know best.
As far as the Nitrogen is concerned, I think its just a marketing ploy and they never refill the tires with nitrogen. They just install the valve caps with the "N" on them and tell you they have nitrogen in them.

Sorry, you are wrong. Having worked in tire shops, I can attest to this being real. There are several benefits to Nitrogen over Air, including slower leaks if you get a nail etc, as Nitrogen molecules are larger and won't leak as easily. Nitrogen does not expand as easily, which result in a cooler running tire. Heat is a tire's biggest enemy, so this is very useful.

Sorry if I didn't explain my myself that well. I definitely believe in the benefits of using nitrogen in tires.
What I was trying to say is that many dealerships add things to the price of every car they sell, like pinstripes, door edge guards, nitrogen in the tires and other things like that. I seriously doubt they deflate every tire on every new car they sell and fill them back up with Nitrogen.

If you're a Costco member, the provide free Nitrogen stations outside their tire store in the parking lot.

Ricklack, how did you get all of the regular out of the tire before adding the 100% nitrogen ?
in most cases you are filling them from new. But just removing the Schrader valve and waiting is all that is needed if the tires are already mounted. Is 100% of the air gone? No, but the remaining amount is insignificant, if you have 95% nitrogen or so, you're good.

Pretty sure that is for tires you buy from them, or if you have the nitrogen conversion done by them. My dealer had no nitrogen, so I will have the conversion done at Costco - only $11.99 CAD!! I'll get an oil change at same time - $64.95 CAD Castrol full synthetic. Debating about taking them an oil filter, not sure what brand they are using these days.

BTW, a lot of Costcos have stopped oil changes, I am lucky that 2 Costcos in my area still do oil change, but they are unsure for how long. Currently the exchange rate is .72 cents US for a CAD - so you can do the math. for me to buy the oil and filter, it's only a few bucks more to have Costco change it while I am shopping. Only thing is, during spring/fall tire seasons they won't do oil changes.

You can mix regular air and nitrogen. No need to drain the air.

One of the most outrageous "dealer added" items on my sticker was for door edge guards. I don't have the sticker in front of me, but I believe it was well over $100 for partial black door edge guards for the four doors. Since I wanted to add the guards to the edge of the hatch opening, I ordered a roll of the same black stuff from Amazon. It is enough to do a full vehicle with some left over. Easy to install. Price? $10!
