i had the check engine lite come on on my 2025 equinox lt over the weekend. It was lit twice on sunday but then on monday and tuesday it was off and i drove the car like normal. Took it to dealer today and it looks like this is a sort of known issue that engineering is looking into. This is the report from the dealer.

"9090-P050D history/intermittent PIP6042 Engineering currently investigating. "

Not sure if anyone else has seen this so far. ?? please let me know if you have.

P050D is a the new "cold start rough idle" code that GM has no idea how to deal with. They've added it on all their turbo 4cyl engines from 2024 on. I believe some people over on a Traverse board I frequent are pursuing buy-backs on their 2024-25 Traverses because they can't keep the MIL off because of this code.

As far as I know, there's no harm in it at this point. The major issue IMO is, if you live in a state like NY, you won't pass yearly inspection with the MIL on and GM has yet to figure out what's causing it and how to fix it.

I got mine in September last year and I have had the Cold Rough Idle code come up 5 times so far, latest one was this past Saturday in mid 40°F temps. The first 2 times I took it in and it was a history code, so they couldn't find anything. The 3rd time it went off within 2 days. The 4th time I took it in again and they still couldn't find anything and started a service ticket with GM. I was going on vacation, so I let them keep the vehicle for a week. When I got back they told me they still couldn't find anything and that GM engineers are aware of it and trying to come up with a fix.

I told them that is why I kept bringing it in even though it was clearing itself, I wanted it documented. The 1st time it happened, I had just over 3,000 miles on it. Now I am pushing 9,500.
