Truck has 232,000 on it. I take very good care of her! Recently lost take off power, and hesitates when accelerating. Damn it man! I can’t catch a break! 😥

What year? I don’t recognize this fitting. Where does it go? I’ve torn down a bunch of motors.

That looks like the pet cock for a radiator drain to me. Also what year is your Equinox SUV?

I might have thought rad drain but I wasn’t expecting that color/viscous of fluid. Actually, It’s such a clear well lit pic I was surprised it’s the bottom of rad.

See if you see something similar under the oil cap and/or on the oil dipstick? If that's what's in the radiator, it could be oil in the coolant from a bad head gasket. Or you might not see that and I could be wrong.

2014 with 232k miles? I’d say that was awesome. It made it this far. But, that stuff don’t look good. And it’s in 2005-2009 section.

When accelerating you can feel it hesitating… like something’s holding it back from taking off.. like when I’m on the interstate and I’m doing 75-80.. I try to just stay at a steady speed, but now it constantly declines, and I’m constantly having to kick it down to speed back up.. It’s annoying

I’m no ecotec expert. It looks like a pcv hose to route air from valve cover to intake plenum. Air, not liquid. The only stuff on top of cyl head is oily vapor. This looks like coolant mixed with oil? What does your dipstick show? Is it black oil?

That's the clean air side of the PCV sytem. IMO, it looks like that 2.4 is suffering from lots of blowby, which is pushing crank case vapors through that hose, and up into that intake resonator box. You did good getting over 230K miles out of her! They sell modified oil fill caps for these econtecs that have a vent built into them to let excess crank case pressure out. That might be worth a try.

There aren't too many thinks it could be. Is changing your coolant according to or close to the owners manual one of the things you do? That sure looks like old coolant mixed with oil or maybe just really old funky antifreeze. With 232,000 miles I would guess a head gasket.

What does oil look like on dipstick?
Is your coolant level ok?

This is where the fluid came out when I pulled it out..

Yeah, if fluid came out there, as Rodney Dangerfield explained, that's the PCV return hose.

Sounds like the air intake resonator was full of that gunk. That would be getting in the engine, through the intake manifold.

Yank that resonator off, spray a bunch of brake cleaner in it, slosh it around, and pour out, to get that stuff out.

Then install a catch can, to prevent this in the future. I have one on mine, empty it every 2 or 3 weeks. Pretty cool seeing all that crao that does NOT make it's way into the engine.

I agree on the CC as I have installed them on other vehicles I own. Thing is, the hose in question is not where you would install a CC by design. CC's go on the vacuum side of the PCV system. I suppose you could put one on the there, but they're not designed to flow in both directions.

As a guess from what I see, I believe this engine is suffering from excess blowby. Probably from nothing more than having well over 200K miles on it. She's worn out.

I think I have to agree with you sir. Where can I find one of these oil fill caps?

Here the code reader diagnostics.. now mind you, I’ve already changed my intake, and exhaust solenoid not this summer but last summer. It’s the 2 that are under my valve cover. That’s the only thing I’ve really done to it. Beside brakes, rotors, and calipers. I try to always change my oil on time.
