That looks like the pet cock for a radiator drain to me. Also what year is your Equinox SUV?What year? I don’t recognize this fitting. Where does it go? I’ve torn down a bunch of motors.
In other posts she has a 2014 with the 2.4 engine. What year? I don’t recognize this fitting. Where does it go? I’ve torn down a bunch of motors.

It’s no where close to the radiator.. sorry for the lack of informationSee if you see something similar under the oil cap and/or on the oil dipstick? If that's what's in the radiator, it could be oil in the coolant from a bad head gasket. Or you might not see that and I could be wrong.
There aren't too many thinks it could be. Is changing your coolant according to or close to the owners manual one of the things you do? That sure looks like old coolant mixed with oil or maybe just really old funky antifreeze. With 232,000 miles I would guess a head gasket.Truck has 232,000 on it. I take very good care of her! Recently lost take off power, and hesitates when accelerating. Damn it man! I can’t catch a break!
