iPhone gap-jump between songs

Hello, I just got a new iphone and it works with my 2014 Equinox, except it has an annoying thing where instead of going from one song to the next, there is a longer than normal quiet gap, then it jumps ahead into the next song by a few seconds. Then if I hit the 'back' button on mysync, the song will play from the beginning as normal. VERY frustrating.

Anyone else have this? Any fix?? Ack please help. Thanks in advance.
