came to a stop quite running would not turn over could not shift out of park even the thing to release the shifter did not work so I could coast out of the way from the left lane. The DIC said shift into park to start? Got dragged over into the grass from a helper in a pick-up. Then I said let's try to start and it started and got home. It been doing this for some time, but this is the first time it's done this. I posted this before, but it got moved to a diff. forum. Any help would be nice thank's Oh the emg. brake came on again.

Have you tried scanning it? The better the scanner, the more informative the code will be. These things are under the control of computers. Don't throw any parts at it until you know why it's upset and make sure the battery is in top notch shape. Good luck!

What engine, the 1.5T or 2.0T? Has the battery been both load and crank tested with a digital tester?
Is the auto stop/start still active on the vehicle? Does this condition happen during an auto stop cycle? The first thing I would do is eliminate the auto stop/start. This feature is horrible on the vehicle's electronic and mechanical systems. There are many threads and tutorials on how to eliminate auto s/s with a $10 bypass harness off amazon or the likes.

Many I've heard from say the BlueDriver available on Amazon will read all the systems. I bought one myself for the next time I need one. When it said one of my other cars was code free, it passed the license plate tests without any problems.
