Overheats like a bitch
Have literally changed everything on this carthat kinda has to do with the cooling system. We've changed the thermostat. The water pumpthe dual fans and the radiator but yet it continues to overheat. Almost immediately. Umit just kind of seems getting a little bit worse before I could drive a good 15 minutes before overheated. Now I get a couple minutes of that. What I did notice is before changing the dual fan. Only the passenger side one ever kicked on. The driver's side one never turns on. My neighborhood crackhead tried to hot wire it to get it to turn on and it still won't kick on. He took the dual fan out of my carinstalled it in his car and both fans turned on. But for some reason the driver's side fan won't kick on. Can this be causing my overheating or am I? Correct in, that's just AC cooling fan. And I don't really need it

Idk what a hydrocarbon test is.

But my friend did a pressure test and said it was not my head gasket.

There is a test you can do to “sniff” coolant and it detects exh gas if headgasket is leaking.

It's been sniffed by 3 separate mechanics. And it's just fine. The problem is I can't get the second fan on

Kids 08 had 1 fan running on high. Sounded like jet engine. I unplugged both fans and cleaned plugs and both fans now run on lo like expected. But, you changed both fans so it should not be a plug issue.

Almost sounds like there is a blockage in the block or a head. Maybe the heater core?

OP is blaming overheating on 1 fan not running. It should not overheat on the highway above 40mph as airflow is deciding factor. IF it overheats at 50mph then it’s not a fan issue. A cold motor will not overheat in 2-3 minutes. If you start it and get on highway it should be ok with NO fans.

I don't drive on the highway. I don't drive above 35mph, cuz that's my local speed limit. AND I got both fans working. The relay under my headlight, the relay in my fuse box, and a fuse were all junk.

Only problem now is I can't bleed all the air out my lines. My bleeder screw is junk. Any advice there?

Cheap part. $20-35 you want to change whole thing. The hex can be unscrewed.
I’ve seen it for $20 at some places
I just bled my 09 yesterday. I did head gaskets.

The stealership charged me $200 to bleed it... screw that man.

Can you give me step by step instructions so I can do it myself? Bonus points if you have pics ! I might only be an 18yr old girl, but I'm determined to try it so my daughter's christmas isn't silent on the stealership.

Pretty sure the brass fitting on end is 2 piece. A screw in “vent” which is 7mm hex and a bigger 10mm adapter. I think both unscrew. I think people don’t use a 7mm socket and strip the hex. You can use a pliers on it to turn it. You get motor hot and unscrew 7mm about 1/2-3/4 turn to vent air. Heck, you could use a vise grip. The coolant sprays out side of 10mm body.

I’m not sure where you can get fitting alone. You could buy a plastic assy and unscrew the brass part. But that’s more expensive.

After bleeding don't tighten too tight. It is a brass fitting and snaps off real easily. Don't ask me how I know!
