07 equinox radio display problem

Hello, I purchased an equinox a couple of months back. The radio display comes on when the doors are unlocked and when car is started. But, I am unable to see anything. Its green when turned on and goes black while driving. Everything works such as the radio but I can't see anything and I would rather not continue to take out my phone when I want to know the time. Lol. If anyone has any possible solution or insight to this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

No dash cover over the light sensor on the center dash above the stereo, other wise maybe a configuration error on setup. Check thru settings on the stereo in park but on position for stereo.
