Shifter “I” vs “D”

I noticed my dash indicator says “I” when I shift to “D”. I know it’s for intermediate per owners manual. Seems to drive fine. I don’t notice any engine braking per manual. I shift from neutral to drive and dash skips over the D and shows as I.

some info said it locks out OD but I don’t think so.
