Resets?

The battery terminals on our '15 Equinox are looking pretty scummy, and I would like to clean them. Unfortunately, I'm old school, and don't know too much about these "new-fangled vehicles". Do I have to reset things after hooking it back up again and how? It's a basic 4-banger with a fob to unlock it, but it needs the "switchblade" key to start it.

Most part stores sell a device to keep the settings when you disconnect the battery. However, I had changed the battery in my 2013 and did not use one, and I did not lose settings.
