Lifter tap

Got my kids 08 for awhile. I changed oil but used 10-30 as that’s all I had. She mentioned she has a lifter tap occasionally and I concur. Sometimes it goes away in 5 sec after start but sometimes not. Quite annoying as I did heads 2 years ago and had chance to replace lifters and did not.
I was unaware of lifter tap, 2 yrs ago.
I think new, clean 10-30 vs 5-30 would have little affect on issue. I think it is due to a bit of crud/varnish in lifter body and initial cold oil flow is a coincidence? Or am I kidding myself?
I “think” the lifter will pump us just as fast with 10w vs 5w. I do know how to pull intake as I am a headgasket expert now.

I added 1/2 qt atf. Same affect as mystery oil.
Extra detergents to free sticky lifters.
Car was quiet for 2 weeks. Then I backed out of garage. Quiet.
Car sat in driveway a few hours. Started it, tap tap tap?
Restarted it and quieter tap tap.
Restarted it again and silent. No tap.
Tap comes and goes.
Saw a set of lifters on Amazon for $34
