LED tail/stop lights?

Have a new Equinox. On a couple of my vehicles after many years I have had to replace sockets because of charring from the brake light bulb heat. I am thinking about replacing the 3157K RD bulb with an LED version. I would want at least the same amount of intensity and viewing angle. Has anyone done this, and what brand did you use.? The auto parts stores have a "Pilot" brand. Anyone used these and any additional thoughts thanks.
