Is there a "rarely known/used features" thread anywhere? (New 2024 premier)

Hi there! My wife just got a promotion and got a 2024 premier with convenience II and infotainment II package and the panoramic sunroof as a work vehicle. I'm curious if you guys have a thread for minor things that might be overlooked that you actually use. Or just handy advice. I'd never buy a car so optioned, figure I'd check here first. First impression is its really roomy front and back for a small SUV. She has a Sorento so it's a bit smaller. I also figured the 1.5 turbo would get a little better mileage.

Use some 303 aerospace Protectant on rubber seals and as Vern pointed out, critical to keep the seals and area around the drain holes clear of any dirt, debris by the drain holes.

Hi, Tommy... welcome to the forum! I have essentially the same vehicle. I've had it for months, and am still learning the options. :) I've got most things figured out. The best thing to do is go sit in the car, turn on some nice mellow music, and literally go through every single menu option and all sub-options to see what's there. Then you can always check the manual (or Google) for anything you have more questions about. Or, of course, just post your question in here.

Check out YouTube, there are tons of videos on there that will show you lots of info about the options on your car. Just search for something like "2024 Chevy Equinox Premier options".

I love mine so far, I think you and your wife will like yours. I was skeptical about the 1.5L engine, but it's pretty darn peppy (and this coming from someone who's had his share of fast sports cars). And as you mention, the mileage it gets is great.

Vern... after seeing all the reports of leaking sunroofs in here and other places, that's great advice. I have not yet located the drainage holes on mine, I will do that this weekend while cleaning it. Do you know where the drainage tubes exit? Are they accessible? (Like for sucking air through them with a vacuum, to ensure that they are not clogged.)

And Sonny88... I was just going to ask what was best for keeping the seals clean and lubricated. I always used ArmorAll on the seals of prior cars, but have heard that's not the best thing to use. I see silicone suggested a lot; is that what "303 aerospace protectant" is?

The front ones are easy to see if the roof is open. The back ones you'll have to go by feel. most people recommend running some weed eater string down them. the tubes run down the A pillars in the front and exit in front of the rear wheels for the back. After two trips to the dealer with my roof, I gave up on it and sealed it. The dealer would tell me it was just clogged and they cleaned it out. Three days later it rained and leaked like a sieve. My headliner is already stained, I didn't want to deal with it any longer. The dealer did admit it is a bad design and the drains can't keep up with heavy rain.

Thanks for the info, Vern. I like the weed eater string suggestion. And I'm sorry to hear of the problems that you've had with yours. The sunroof was a "must have" option for me, so I hope I don't ever have to seal it up. I want to do everything I can to prevent any leaks from happening, before they start. I use a touchless car wash every week or two, with some pretty high-powered jets... I keep the headliner open every time and watch very closely for any moisture, so far so good.

You sealed the sunroof shut?
I wish there was the option to have the glass panel that did not open.
We don't open ours because of the noise but we like the glass panel especially in the winter.

TOmmy has not been back since he posted but this looks like a good thread to keep going.

After 2 years I still find features I did not know about, either from reading online, or by happenstance. LOL

When I got the car I sat in the driveway, during December in Canada, idling the engine and trying things as I read the manual. After a few hours I got a headache and gave up - just too much stuff to assimilate that fast.

Seeing as though it is summer, one of my favorite features is the ability to open all the wndows by pressing the nlock button of the fob and holding it @ 5 seconds.

Press and hold Unlock until the windows fully
open. Windows will not operate unless
remote window operation is enabled. See
Vehicle Personalization 0 111.

Remote Lock, Unlock, and Start
Touch and the following may display:
. Remote Unlock Light Feedback
. Remote Lock Feedback
. Remote Door Unlock
. Remote Start Auto Cool Seats
. Remote Start Auto Heat Seats
. Remote Window Operation
. Passive Door Unlock
. Passive Door Lock
. Remote Left in Vehicle Alert

The first winter we had the Equinox we went out for breakfast when it was -15 or -20F. I thought I remote started the car but when we walked outside we saw all 4 windows down :)
It took me awhile to figure out what I had done. I went into settings and shut that feature off :)

I think I would have rolled all the windows up, started the car with the heat on "high", and went back inside the restaurant for a hot cup of coffee. :)

Good thing you weren't in the middle of a heavy snowstorm! :)
