Hi,

So I recorded a clip of my '18 'Nox 1.5L first start of the day with a/c off.

It makes a weird clunking and hissing sound which sounds odd to me. I do not think this is coming from the active shutters cycling but possible? The clip was recorded just above the turbo/belt area of the motor.

Air filter changed 20K kms ago, new spark plugs ~60K kms ago.

Any insight what to check out would be helpful. No codes or CEL on the dash.

I really hope you see this, so I have been having this exact issue! After 2 trips to the dealer, they finally said it was the turbo. Luckily, my car was under the extender warranty I purchased still, but it is almost over. I still have the air noise, but the clicking mine was making isn't as bad. Did you ever figure out what this was? You are the only other person I have found online that has experienced this.

That clip definitely sounds turbo or charge air cooler related, but those things typically throw a code and cause serious performance issues.

Mine never threw a code and because of that the dealer said nothing was wrong the first time. So I showed them a video “you’ll have to make another appointment” so I went back weeks later and they said it was the turbo. The problem is, the vacummish sound is still there even though the clock is gone. They said that the turbo was broken internally but no other explanation. It was a $1980 repair, luckily covered under warranty (200 miles left). So I’m trying to get them to look again but they want me to wait another 2+ weeks. So if anyone has any solid suggestions for what it is I’d love to hear it. Thanks!

So just to update it was the turbo control solenoid bolted to the turbo causing these issues.

After letting it sit and checking again, the noise is still there just like before. So, it must be the solenoid if the turbine didn’t fix it. Funny they fixed the most expensive part. Calling them back tomorrow morning to see what they say.

Sooo glad to have the Extended Warranty on the 2019....
Same here, but mine is about to run out so I’m trying to get to the bottom of this. The new turbo obviously didn’t fix it, so I’ll see if they replaced the solenoid and if not, hoping that’s the issue. I’ve also complain about harder shifting from 2/3 and 3/4 but since there aren’t any codes they said nothing is wrong.

Is there a way to test the solenoid like disconnect it? See if the noise goes away?
