2025 Equinox MPG

I find the mpg significantly worse than our 22 and 19 models with same engines. Anyone else see this? I’d average 35 mpg on the freeway consistently. Now, 27. Not happy.

i’m averaging 27-30 depending on how and where i’m driving…coming from driving a ‘22 5.7 Hemi durango RT which got 16mpg i’m very happy with my mileage

I going to say 24-27 on averaging. The highest was 35 one time. I need to reset it and see what it tops out at now.

That's actually close to what Chevrolet rates it. You are correct that it is lower than the previous gen probably due to it's larger size and boxier shape with the same motor. Also slight difference depending on whether you have the AWD version or not. I agree it is disappointing and worse the most of the competition.

The most fuel-efficient Equinox is the front-wheel drive model, which is rated for 26 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. However, the all-wheel drive model might be better for those who plan to do long road trips, as its highway fuel economy rating is higher at 29 mpg even though its city rating is lower at 24 mpg.

From what I remember EPA Highway mileage dropped on the 2025 for AWD and FWD.
Did the OP save the window stickers from his 22 and 25?

This article talks about the gas mileage drop on the 2025.

Part of the reason in MPG difference between FWD and AWD is they use different transmissions. FWD uses CVT and AWD is an 8 speed, if i remember what i read.

Actually, the 2025 LSD is not identical to the 2022 or 2019 LYX - it has 5 more HP but not sure how they achieved that, possibly just better tuned. But it is a different designation, so probably more than that. But your mileage should not be that bad. If you are past the "mechanical and electrical systems break in" period, 4,000 miles or 6400 km, then I would bring this up to the dealer on your next visit. I did notice an improvement in MPG after the break in, but that coincided with my switch to premium gas. Not sure which it was, but I am happy to leave things as they are.

One more item that makes a little difference is winter gas.

I am averaging around 23 MPG. II have less than 1000 miles on it & the weather has been really cold.
Not much highway driving at all.
The 2022 I had was averaging 26-27 MPG in this kind of weather

This was a 50 mile. I wasn't driving with mpg in mind. Next trip i will
