Hey guys! Just got my brand new 2025 Equinox RS today! One thing I'm having an issue with is the android auto google maps on the digital gauge cluster, for some reason when I select a route and hit navigate, the screen seemingly cuts off some information at the bottom and the placement of the navigation directions (in green) seems off, is it supposed to be in the center of the screen like that? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Kenway, it's the same in our 2025. I tried some changes in the AA app with no effect. It's even worse with Waze. The map completely disappears in the instrument cluster, leaving only the directions. Both maps and directions are still viewable in the center console, so it's not all lost.

Still seems off, though.

Good luck!

Taking it to the dealership tomorrow to see if there's any updates they can make to the infotainment system for this. If not I'll see if they can get chevy to look into it. Will update here! @Jeff D.

I am still trying to better understand all the Tech on our new 2025. Since my wife drives it, I don't get much chance to try things. Are you using the built-in Google Maps or phone? I would assume based on the thread subject it would be the phone. I don't remember seeing that issue, but I will look next time I drive it. I have not used the map cluster template, the one we use is with the speed and have played with settings, and is now showing the average fuel on the left. The right shows the next turn etc, which matches the infotainment screen (Google Maps).

Penright, I can only speak for myself, but when I tried it, it was accessing Android Auto from my phone. Google Pixel 8.

The Google Maps information displayed in both screens were the same, just seemed like the sizing or formatting was off in the instrument cluster slightly, which cut off text near the bottom. I played with resolutin in the Android Auto apps Delveloper Settings, but it didn't have any effect.

UPDATE: Dealership service center found no pending firmware updates from Chevy's end. They were able to recreate the same exact issue though in other 25 Equinoxes on their lot, they just advised to wait for a OTA update.

Is this to the head unit or are they saying wait till Google updates AA on the phone?
To be honest, I'm not sure if this is a google update or if this is going to be a update from Chevy to the vehicle, it's hard to determine that. If I had to guess it would be an update through the vehicle itself through the settings app. Luckily though I have 8 years of connectivity to use the built-in apps in the infotainment (google maps, spotify, waze, etc). Honestly just thinking about disabling android auto all together, the google apps seem to work very well in this car and I can manually drag the shortcuts to google maps and spotify to the side bar on the left side.

As long as it is OTA, that is what matters. I was more curious, they do have the OnStar cell connection. Just curious. :)
When something OTA happens, do we know it?

This is my first brand new car (upgraded from a 2014 Chevy Cruze) so I'm not sure if we get notified of it or not yet. Right now I'm just building a habit to manually check for updates every now and then through the car's settings app :)

Thank you for the update Kenway. I don't know about the Equinox, but on my Ford it does notify me when an OTA update is available, although the updates are only Infotainment related. Nothing related to the modules that control the engine or other peripherals.

I wanted to provide another formal update on this issue, I completely forgot to mention this, but I actually work for GM, I am a salaried employee working in the IT space. I had posted about my software issue on a intranet site/forum about this and I have been contacted by a member of the Android Auto/Apple Carplay team and I gave them the build number of the software in my car, they are going to be updating me on the fix and will let me know when it gets applied to the next OTA, will be sure to keep you guys in the loop as well! @Jeff D. FYI

Regarding OTAs, they are from GM, not Google. I had a 2013 Nox and now a 22 Nox, and both notified me when their was an update to be downloaded.

I looked again today and yours may present a little differently than mine but the information on your screen looks complete. Kinda hard to tell with your photo but the info is complete.

UPDATE: I have heard from my GM contact in the Android Auto team at GM, they've fixed the issue, but the OTA to address this will not come out until Q1 or Q2 2025.
