2024 Equinox AWD Vibration at 35mph

You’re correct it is way underpowered. 1.4 L is only about 96 cubic inches so they Turbo it, but it’s still underpowered! My MC has a more powerful engine. Mine is a lease so I’m stuck with it for a while. The weather is breaking so I’ll drive my 2007 Mustang when the weather is good and no snow or salty roads.

My 2004 Harley is 1450cc /88ci. My 2024 Equinox is 1500cc / 91ci. My previous 2016 Equinox had 2400cc / 145ci.

Mine also has this problem as was described here. Currently 2000 miles and im confident it is the engine because I caught it doing the exact same thing during a restart that it does when the vibrations occurs. Listen to the engine when your coming to a stop when the vibration is occuring. Listen when its lugging in town. I caught it sounding the same way when the engine was calming down from a restart a couple times. The way GM programmed the shift points is amplifying whatever is wrong with the engine. I read somewhere that the transmission was reused from the 22 model.

Does the AWD system have to reach a certain RPM or MPH to engage ? Maybe during the transition to engage, there is some shudder.....
Wouldn't explain this for the FWD though...

Only engine available on the 2024 Equinox LT2 AWD!

Actually they have a 1.5. The 1.4 was used in the Trax, among other cars.

FWD is not affected this problem, due to a lack of AWD transfer case.

My mistake it was a Typo. My 2024 AWD has the 1.5L engine.

I started to notice this rumble around 1200-1300 rpm when I reached a couple hundred miles on my 2024 LT. I found it most noticeable when cruising 55 then turning into my 20 mph neighborhood. When maintaining 20 mph the transmission stays in 5 or 6 and engine hovers around 1300 rpm and I get that vibration rumble. Sounds like a subwoofer in test mode. I took it to the dealer and they ran a TCM update. After a week, rumble gone. When I repeat the previous I notice it stays in that high gear for about a half second then shifts while cruising 20 and keeps the engine more around 1600 rpm and no more rumble. Easy enough fix. I have the bulletin number on my paperwork and can grab it if needed.

23NA129 is the bulletin on my service order. I see in this discussion another member listed the same bulletin but it didn't fix it. I'm guessing the tech's just refused to run the update, it wasn't available, or that car's vin wasn't listed. GM does that and it sucks. Worked for me.

I started getting a LOUD strange hum (as in I want to clap 2 hands over my ears when it starts), but it's when I'm on the interstate... Prob about 80 mph. Anybody similar??

I also took delivery of this AWD Equinox on 1/13/2024 , from West Herr Chevrolet Hamburg NY, and on the drive home took notice of the drive line vibration. I brought it up to the Salesman, loan Manager, Service Manager, Mechanic and finally the Branch Manager. We took the Car in twice to no avail and was told it’s inherent to the vehicle because of Federal mileage standards! It’s because the transmission shifts into the higher gear at apx. 32mph and the car vibrates until you reach apx. 40 mph. Chevrolet is aware of this but hasn’t come up with a re-program for the transmission computer to resolve the problem. So GM knows about it but doesn’t appear to be doing anything about it at this point. Maybe there needs to be a class action lawsuit filed as I’m sure us proud 2024 Equinox owners may have bought other cars had we known about this!

Old thread here and we never heard back from the OP, but does your vibs happen under hard acceleration? Reason I ask is, I wonder if the 2023-24 are still suffering from the same TSB 20-NA-227 as the 2020-2022 Equinox 1.5's have. Doesn't matter if it's AWD or FWD and it's related to the front CV shafts.

I live in the East Aurora area and bought my used 2021 Equinox from Towne Mazda in Orchard Park back in May. I noticed the occasional front-end vib/wobble right away. Only happens during hard acceleration and is felt mostly at ~35-45mph. I made an appt with Towne Chevy in North Collins. I presented them with my concern, along with a copy of the TSB and they swapped out both front CV shafts no questions asked with new OEM replacements, free of charge. I assume because I was still under my NY State mandated 3mo/3000mi used car warranty.

The problem was 100% gone for a few weeks, but seems to have come back to a much less degree. So much so, that a non-car person probably wouldn't notice, but it's there. Where I'm going with this is, I think some of the vibs is just inherent to the vehicle and only some of us are going to even notice it.
