I just got a 2015 LT FWD 2.4L. Inspected the wiper motor and took pics. I cleaned it up a little and lubed the linkage. It doesn't look like this has the recall issue. Agree? Disagree?

My 2013 was recalled for wiper failure and one of the issues was the drain holes were right above where some of the linkage joints rested when wipers were not in use. In high salt areas the salty water would drain right onto the bushings and deteriorate them. My wipers quit on me during a heavy rain mere days after i got my recall notice. The repair only took about 30 minutes, on mine the entire wiper motor and linkage was replaced, as well as fixing the drain holes.

Part of the recall was to plug those drain holes and drill new ones in a different location. I'm not sure if they changed the location on 2015, but the recall was not issued until 2017 so yours could be in need of drain hole relocation. TBH, if your car is eligible for recall, why not get the new linkage even if the drain holes do not need modification? Anything new is a bonus on a 8 year old car. Your car, your call.

Thanks! Yes, TBH will definitely get recall repair done...agree with your comments. Just wanted to find out if wife and daughter could safely drive until such time. Everything looked solid and secure but still agree on getting it fixed. Did the dealership do your recall repair? The official notice says remedy not yet available. But I guess in your situation they didn't have a choice as it had failed.

Yes, back in 2017 the dealer had lots of parts in stock for the recall.

Hopefully your will last until they get stock again. One thing that might help - mine failed when there was a downpour and I put my wipers on highest speed. Perhaps if I had left it on low speed it mat have lasted longer? No way to be sure. Perhaps tell then if the rain gets too heavy to pull over rather than set the wipers to high.

I was fortunate I was on the highway and the cleaning wax I use was enough so that the rain rolled off the windshield and I could see. Yes, that's right - I never needed to put my wipers on high but curiosity made me try it anyway to see how the wipers worked on high. LOL

The downpour was over by the time I slowed down so I was never in any danger.

But consider RainX or your favorite window treatment to lessen the need for wipers until the recall is done. I use F1 cleaning wax, it does a great job on the windows but be sure to get all the residue off the windows.

Again, agree with you. All good advice. I did run them on high and everything appears solid. I use the window treatment too. Love that stuff. Hopefully, these will last until dealer can get it fixed. Thanks again.
