This may be a stupid question for the start of summer, but I figure it's a good time to start looking. Has anyone found any winter fronts for the current generation Equinox? After we lost our 2020 LT AWD 1.5T for a solid month this past winter to blown front and rear crank seals after the PCV froze up during a cold snap ... I don't want to head into a second winter (yay Canada!) without one. YES, they did factory install active shutters for the CAC because it was also freezing up and throwing overboost codes. That doesn't cover the main section of the grille and radiator - and at -35/-40 I don't trust the electronic shutters as much as I do as something solid blocking the airflow right from the outside of the grille.

I haven't been able to find much of anything online, except for a Fia cover that says it's for the Nox while only showing pictures of full size trucks. If anyone has one that they've used on their current generation Equinox, I'd love to hear what it is and where you found it. Google hasn't been cutting me any slack in my search.

I have no idea where to get one but I recently bought a 2019 lt thats from canada (im from usa in middle michigan) and just today seen that mine has one. I have been looking on the internet for 30 minutes to see if it's factory or not. If I find out that its for sure its not factory or needed I will pull it out and ship it to you. Just pay shipping.

From what I'm reading so far 2022 models are factory and I guess needed. But in 20°f on the highway for 10 minutes temp was 199° and that seems to hot for me on the highway.

I will let you know.

I bought a lower grille cover from the dealer for my 2022. If you had gotten a block heater, this cover would come with the car and be stored in the storage area near the spare tire. Canadian part # 85551503. If my memory is correct, the US part # is 85551504. Unsure why there would be different part #s, perhaps my dealer screwed that up?

If you are looking for an upper grill cover, I have never looked for one. It would cover the front camera, if you have the HD Surround cameras like mine.

Dangit.. I had been interested in one of these covers. When I look up GM part number 85551504 it says it wont fit my 2021 Equinox 1.5T, but it will fit a 2022. I didn't think there were any differences between 2021 and 2022.

Those part numbers are for the RS model grill - it is different from other models, so it wont fit all models of 2022 - so they say. However, there are some clips that are blocked by the grill plastics, so it would seem that they do fit more than one model. Mine stays on fine without those clips doing anything useful.

My friend has 2018 Trax and he had the turbo failure due to cold weather, luckily just before the drivetrain warranty expired - as part of the repair they gave him a lower grill cover, so they must make them for many years and models. Ask your dealer for your 2021. The 2022 has a lot of cosmetic differences compared to a 21.

Yet another case of not being able to believe these GM parts sites I guess. They all say this will fit all trim levels of a 2022 Equinox. I'll have to look up the fascia to see what the differences are between a 2021 LT and a 2022 LT.

The low mounted CAC and winter temps can really make for a bad day for 1.5T owners. I wish there was an easy accessible low point drain on that sucker.

I haven't looked for it on mine, but I seem to remember someone saying they added a drain plug, I don't recall what year this was supposed to be done. Remind me in April or May to look for it :ROFLMAO:

That would be sweet if there was one and it was accessible. I hear you. This winter has been brutal.

I haven't seen anything in regards to a drain plug for the CAC, but found a thread with a more relevant TSB https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-10250546-0001.pdf

From this thread. You're in it! lol. https://www.terrainforum.net/threads/2020-equinox-lt-4cyl-turbo-46k-fubar.32235/page-2
