Universal Remote Non-Functional

My 2025 is at the port and will be delivered in the next few weeks.

The window sticker has a $50 credit stating the Universal Remote Non Functional.

Does anyone have any insight on the issue and will GM fix in the future?

If they give a credit, I doubt they will fix it in the future. I imagine it is a supply issue with the remote garage door opener.

It's my understanding most manufacturers are phasing out the remote openers and forcing folks to use an app on their phones instead. That's one of the reasons we have a 2024 Premier.

I had a $50 credit due to missing chip for the heated seats. They installed the chip when they were available and did not ask for the $50 back lol

That's awesome! Hopefully they are doing the same things now.

My ‘25 RS also has the $50 credit on the window sticker and I cannot find any options in the infotainment system for it. I mentioned this to my salesman when buying the car and he had no idea if or when they would ever activate it and actually wasn’t even aware of it until I brought it up and pointed it out on the window sticker.
No biggie really I just threw my garage door opener on the visor like the good old days

We just picked up our 2025 and I was amazed that there was no integrated garage door opener. Of course we will use the one that came with the opener, but is there some sort of an upgrade package (aftermarket or whatever) that I can install to get the feature back?

The article listed below indicated that there will be an over-the-air update in Q1 of 2025 adding these features. I believe that if you lookup the Owner's Manual for the Equinox EV, it will show how it works.

I just got back from having my infotainment system updated by the dealership. It took 90 minutes (not sure how long it actually took them), and works great! After setting it up, the icon appears automatically as I approach my home. Quick tap, door opens. Finally!!

Another couple of things happened with the update:

1. OK GOOGLE, show my audio controls - now only shows a few, the unlabeled/duplicates are no longer there (not a bad thing)
2. Toggle switch for radio on steering wheel used to show favorites, then I would scroll through and select what I wanted. Now, it just scrolls through all Sirius stations in order (not favorites). Not sure what it would do with AM/FM. I don't believe this is an improvement, but it's what my Acadia used to do, so I'm sure I'll get used to it quickly.
3. Not sure if this is due to the update, but Google Play store now has Prime Video and Peacock that you can download to watch things ONLY while in Park.

I don't plan on keeping Wi-Fi after free trial ends. I will try to use my phone as a hot spot and connect car to that. I doubt it will work for OK GOOGLE items and other apps, but will try just the same.

Dealership didn't even know about this update until I mentioned it to them. I was definitely the first to bring it up to them!

I received the update on last Tuesday with all the things you mentioned but I lost the animation when you closed the door before start up and I miss that. Trying to find a fix without having to go back to to the dealership…

I bet your window sticker stated "a $50 delete for HOME LINK, not universal remote. I just purchased a 2025 RS yesterday and the Universal remote on the Infotanment system works like a charge. Just not physical Home link buttons.

I also have a 2025 RS that I purchased in December with a $50 credit for the universal remote not HOME LINK. The update was installed on Tuesday and it works great with the icon appearing when I approach my garage. It also included some other cool features but the only problem is it removed my animation on closing the door. I want that back…
