The styling is nice. I like it. Too bad you can't get the 2.0T\ 9 speed auto anymore, and have to suffer with that 1.5L wheezer.
I'll pass & keep my 2020 2.0T

My daughter's 2019 is the 1.5 L and has sufficient power for the vehicle. The 2024/25 looks like all are turbocharged. So if you want a little more, ya got it. I don't know anything about its turbo, I am guessing it's internal.

Power was not why she wanted the vehicle. It's outstanding performer for its purpose. We have 2 other vehicles for various uses. A 5 speed stick Mazda 3 and an Escalade ESV.

Everyone has their opinions…the new styling is one of many reason I purchased a ‘25 RS AWD I thought the previous generation looked to much like a jelly bean and a space ship round front end

Disappointing.
If I wanted a truck-looking CUV (no, it isn;'t an SUV. Never was; still isn't. It's a station wagon for folks who don't want to be caught driving a station wagon.) from GM, I'd go to GMC.
Will hold onto my 2.0 turbo 9-speed as long as possible, then shop somewhere else for its replacement.

I've been hearing a lot of news about all these turbo engines causing problems, not just GM but across all makes.

It may be a GM thing. Honda has had turbo 4 cyl for years. Before we bought out 2025, I called a friend who is a GM mechanic. He mentioned the turbo and thought there were some service bulletins around it. So I bought it anyway, crossing my fingers that GM has figured it out. Plus, oil maintenance on turbos is really important. Our 2016 Civic makes some decent power. I would not expect the much bigger Equinox to pull as hard as a smaller car. And at 39.+ MPG can't complain. So having said all that you might be asking why did we not buy a Honda. My wife had back surgery a few months back. So the first thing she did was sit in the back seat and front passenger seat. We did Buick, Honda, Jeep, etc. I guessing at least a dozen different makes and models. As soon as she got out of the 2025 Equinox, I knew by the smile on her face that was going to be it. Others were OK, but she really liked it. It has been 30 years since I bought a new car because of the "drive off lot depreciation". I Never ever buy bleeding edge, especially if you can find what we use to call "program cars".

I like the body style. I like the body style has the truck vibe to it. So with her back's seal of approval and me liking the body style that was when we went with it.

Once we locked in on a make and model, we were kind of at the mercy of whatever stock was available. AWD was non-negotiable. Between that and the color it kind of took us down a path, that we are happy with the car but I wish I would have looked at a few more for some extra features. The two that I wish I had were, seat position memory and rear heated seats. I thought it was standard on RS, but I was wrong.

Also if you are looking to install a factory receiver hitch, so far I can not find the faicia that works. My GM fired printed off what the the 2025 install instructions, but the picture sure looks like a previous model. Since the subframe is the same, the earlier receivers' hitches will fit. Just not the body. I have a thread on the forum if any one has any input. I hope it works out in time.

So bottom line, it was mostly what we wanted and we are happy with it.

@penright You hear very little of anything in terms of problems with the Equinox LYX engine (2018-2022) and the newest LSD version (2023+) of the 1.5T and they've been on the roads for going on 8yrs now. Even if you do have a turbo problem, aftermarket replacement turbos are cheap and plentiful and the replacement process is simple compared to most. I believe the majority of the past problems are just as you say. Lack of maintenance. The combo of GDI blackening the oil and little turbo parts whizzing along at ludicrous speed can be a bad thing with an overdue oil change or low oil level.
