Just bought a 2020 Equinox Premier. It came with one key fob, the dealer ordered and sent me another, key ground. Looking in the manual and on line, the process to program these is involved. My concern is that I'm supposed to put BOTH fobs in the cup holder to program them, and the old one will be reset to the new codes. This concerns (scares the snot out of)me. What are the chances of loosing all controls? I'm in the process of installing Demco stay n play brake controller and Roadmaster base plate for flat towing and don't need any other drama.

My battery died in the fob I use most of the time and I just programmed it. I didn't do both at the same time. Both still worked afterwards.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This is my first real experience with multi-talented fobs. My last vehicle (08 4Runner) still had a key attached.

Since you have the premier, you should be able to program the key fobs to be driver 1 and driver 2. If key fob 1 unlocks the car, it moves to driver 1 settings. If fob 2 unlocks the car it would move to driver 2 settings. I had an 02 avalanche for 19 years. I would still drive it if I didn't total it. Then I had a 13 silverado for a year. It turns out the frame was swiss cheese and they covered it up. Then I got the equinox. It is comfortable and fun to drive, but at times I miss the simplicity of the avalanche.

My wife's TourX (can you say Opel) has the Driver 1Driver 2 deal. It is really rather snotty about "Oh, you are Driver 2" or maybe it's just me. Have to look into this Premier deal. My favorite badge is the 2.0 T
