I am having an intermittent problem with our 2013 Equinox LT (118k mi.), which has occurred twice so far, ~5-6 weeks apart. The car happened to be started with a remote start each time, and it drives OK for a bit, then (1st time when stopped in a turn late, 2nd time after stopping in a parking lot) the entire electrical system blanks out. Screen goes blank, key doesn't do anything (no starter clicks, etc), car is just utterly and completely blank / dead / immobile. Then suddenly, miraculously, the car starts fine (after a while of being blank), and runs just fine.
It seems perhaps the whole electrical system must be rebooting itself, or something, but it is not as if there was a battery disconnect. The clock and everything shows the right time and everything else works fine when it comes back to life. The battery tests out fine (fairly new, ~1.5 years), and I'm told the alternator is fine, too. The check engine light comes on for only a couple of days each time then goes away, was never blinking. Car drives fine otherwise.
Took to a repair shop for diagnosis, and the only engine code they found was a P0411 code ("secondary air injection charge"); they also found no obvious issues with the electrical system, fuses, etc. Recommended taking it to the dealer, but I thought I'd post here and see if anyone else ever experienced the same or similar issue.
We can DRIVE it, but I just don't trust it for long trips, and it seems risky even driving locally (not sure if it could occur while driving down the road, instead of being stopped). Thank you!
