Yeah I will one of these days. Still have 40% oil life left on the Equinox.

The hell with this i cant use a wrench just be careful i punctured the side of it now i have to drive an hour 1/2 to the nearest dealer to get the cap if they even have it otherwise i have to order it. I'm already pissed off at this vehicle for this simple fact. Why fix what isn't broken wish it was just the same old way to change an oil filter whoever said this was easier is insane

Seems like they pull a fast one on ya when they chance one detail to a simple procedure..

They have been using these type filters on the HHR'S AND Cobalts.

Excellent write up, I called jiffy lube for a oil change on my nox and they wanted 80 bucks. Uhmmmm hell no, so I decided to do it myself for the first time. The engine hasn't blown up yet so I must be doing something right.

It is easy, I have change it on a lot of cars that were a bigger pain then this is.

The biggest pain to do an oil change in my long 2 year mechanic career was the Chevy cavalier with automatic transmission, the one before the ecotec engine. I hated those so much!!

Now as a part/service advisor, I laugh at those model whe I remember lol

Yeah. lol

The easiest would have to be the Cavalier with manual transmission.

If you want your timing chain not to stretch, I would recommend changing the oil in the 3-4000 mile range. It's cheap enough. Make sure to use the DEXOS certified oil. This will also help to prevent the cam position sensors from getting contaminated. These engines are not forging when it comes to lapses in oil changes.
