I am driving a 2018 equinox (long story as to why) and I have been running in to an odd problem the dealer wasn't able to fix. There is a high pitched electrical sound from the drivers side of the car. It isnt all the time, but it might be a whole day, or a few min, and it will go away. I brought it in, and they did something electrical with it, and said its all set. It isnt. The sound is still there. I have noticed a few more things since then...

1) the speaker on the drivers side isn't really working when this sound is happening.
2) There are no sounds from the directionals when this sound is happening.
3) This sound will continue if I shut everything off, including the car, and open the door. I don't hear it after I am out, so I assume it shuts off, but it will start up again when I get in the car before I start it.

My father in law bought the car just over a month ago, so there is no warranty on this issue, although I did have them look at it a week ago to try to sort this problem out. I dont know enough about the car yet to tell you much, other than the make model and year, but can try to get any answers to questions you might have.

I have a video of this sound I have posted here:

Thanks for taking a moment to view it or for any thoughts you might have.

I can hear it, but no idea what would cause that. It is not your normal type of alarm sound. Since it is affecting the speaker(s) and turn signal sound, it is likely something with the Infotainment amp.

You guys who can't hear it may want to get a hearing check, you might have high frequency hearing loss. It was quite easy for me to hear, even at normal volume.

I hear it.

Is there any aftermarket electronics tapped in anywhere on the vehicle? This can induce noise and/or all kinds of issues.

Other than that, GMs tend to use a single audio amplifier that's shared by the info/entertainment, turn signal click and for all alarms and chimes. Could be an issue there.

that and it keeps going after the car is shut off (that's what I was showing was the sound with the car off) is the really odd part.
