heated mirrors question

I have a new 2025 Equinox LT for about 2 months now. I wanted to use the heated mirrors. The manual says that the heated mirrors should come on when you turn on the rear defogger. When i push the rear defogger the defogger works but the heated mirrors indicator on the actual mirror stays off and the mirrors do not feel warm. So can someone else let me know if your heated mirrors indicator on the mirror lights up when you press the rear defogger??. I do not think oi am missing anything??

On my 2022, there is no indicator that illuminates to let you know the heated function is on. The symbol on the mirror is not a light.

The heated mirror function is not an instant heat type of thing, you need to let it on for several minutes until you notice the fog or ice begin to go away.

thanks for the reply. On the 2025 there is another indicator on the mirror. It is my belief that this is supposed to light when the heat for the mirrors turns on. Also its not like i am just missing the indicator on the mirror but that the mirror is not getting hot or even slightly warm..leading me to believe that its not working

My ask here is if anyone who has a 2025 equinox can simply hit the rear defogger button and tell me if the indicator on the actual mirror comes on/lights up.

I lied anyway LOL. Not intentionally. My 22 does NOT have a symbol for heat on the mirror, only the LKA/Blind Spot indicator which DOES light up. I think my 2013 had the heated mirror symbol, and pretty sure it did not illuminate. Looking at the 2013 OM, it does not mention it having an indicator lamp. Checking the 2025 OM, it does not mention an indicator lamp either, says exact same as my 22 OM. Hopefully someone with a 2025 can confirm for you.

I've been wondering the same about my 2024 EquiEV. Morning temperature are near 32, but I'm hoping the mirrors really are heated. Can't tell yet. That symbol on the mirror, "a box with three squiggly lines" should illuminate?

hello all... well i got to the bottom of it. The symbol on the heated mirror is just that ... a symbol. no lights.. just a symbol. I also then put on the rear defogger and after 5 minutes i touched the mirrors and they were warm. So no light that comes on the mirror when the heat is on..

also for my EV friend the EV user manual states that "the indicator does not light up"

so the only thing that lights up on the mirror is the blind spot indicator.
