I have a 2022 Equinox LS I purchased it new in Sept. 2021. I currently have 19850 miles on the odometer. I have flat-towed the car for approximately 1200 miles in 3 different runs. I am curious if anyone that flat tows have, any issues that come up with long-term flat towing. Also, do you do any preemptive service, like transmission fluid change sooner than recommended or oil changes on longer or shorter intervals? To be clear, I have no issues with my car. I have done 3 oil changes, 1 trans fluid flush, and 3 tire rotations so far.

Great question! I have a 2024 Equinox Premier and I plan on changing oil every 6 months (We will only drive it about 8K-10K miles a year) and change the transmission fluid every other year. I’d love to hear what others are doing.

Your best resource for questions like this will be found here: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f85/

For a 2022 FWD LS with the 6-speed transmission the answer generally seems to be no issues, as long as you keep the speed no higher than 65 MPH when being towed, and do not block the flow of cooling air with some kind of rock shield or bra on the car itself.

The answer is a little less clear for the ones with the 9-speed so I changed the transmission fluid at 35,000 miles with 10,000 more being towed. But the people having problems with the 9-speed are not flat towing, just driving. Still, that seems to be a very small number of people.

I have a 24 Premier with about 8k in the odometer and about 2500 miles flat towing. I have already changed the oil and tranny fluid. Going forward I will be changing the tranny fluid every other year and change the oil in accordance with the owners manual. This is similar to what I did with a 2014 CR V that had 100k on the odometer and about 48k flat tow mileage.

Sorry I jumping on your thread as I haven’t figured out yet how to make my own post.
We just bought a 2024 equinox primer
We have it all ready to flat tow but I am concerned about the steering wheel not being as free as it is when running. It’s moves some.
Is there some I can do to let it be more free moving

You should be able to rely to the section in your owner's manual that explains how to set up your Equinox for "Dingy Towing" As long as you follow those instructions, your warranty should be good.

Yes we have and all is good other than it seems the steering wheel is stiffer than I thought it would be
