So for me I was driving to work where out of nowhere my car just dies mid drive. Once I pulled over to the side I tried to have it start again but it would just crank and nothing would happen no matter what. The battery is good. I checked all the fuses and relays and they are all good. I got a new starter and alternator but I still cannot get the car to crank. All the dash lights and headlights turn on it’s just that the engine does not want to crank. I’ve been at it trying to fix it for a good 2 weeks now and I cannot figure it out so hopefully anyone here can help guide me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

First. Clarify your crank comment?
Car died, and motor cranks, but won’t start.
Crank means turn over. But not “run”.
Your first comment says it cranks fine.
But you got new starter? But it did crank?
And now it won’t crank?
Check your fuel pump fuse.
Check fuel pressure.

Like I said. I was driving, car died mid drive. I pulled over. Tried to start it again. Just cranked and nothing engine wouldn’t start, left the car overnight bc I was heading to work at the time. Came back to it after my shift and it wouldn’t crank at that point. My dash lights and everything turned on fine. I went to get the battery charged up still no crank. Got a new starter, still no crank, got a new alternator, still no crank. I did check all the fuses related to starter and they were all fine but car just does not want to crank. I as well checked fuel pressure and pump and it’s all fine as it should be.

I’m in same boat. I did head gaskets 3 yrs ago. And they blew this week. Coolant in cylinder. So, hydro locked. I pulled heads and lots of coolant. I fix them and have hung onto this one. Guess I messed up somehow. Check your coolant level in tank. Check oil dipstick. And or drain oil to see.
Or, try to spin motor by hand. Remove plugs?

Hello there,

What year is your Equinox exactly? This could be multiple issues depending on the year. For example: 2005s and 2006s had severe issues with the Body control module suddenly failing, and therefore, would cause a security issue and not allow the vehicle to start. 2007s and 2008s had issues with the ECMs and throttle body's failing over time. If there is a way for you to get the error codes also, that can also help tell you the issue. I hope this helps.
