2019 equinox white paint chipping

My 2019 equinox is white and the fender is starting to chip. I heard gm was being sued over chipping white paint so I did some research. The only thing I could find was 2019-2024 trucks and large suvs were in the lawsuit. I have seen many videos of equinox malibu lot of white chevys having the same problem.

If this lawsuit goes through and wins will it only be for trucks and large suv? Is there a way we can let gm know its happening to more vehicles?

I would notify my dealer, and see what they say. I think there is a 7 yr warranty against rust, but worth asking.

I bought it used 3 months ago, would it still have a warranty?

Sure. The warranty goes with the car, not the original buyer.

Like said, to pursue anything with GM, you have to start at the dealer level and this will not be easy on a 6-7yr/old vehicle, regardless of having just bought it unfortunately. I feel for ya. Stuff like this is maddening.

I've battled with other make models over the years with paint issues (Ford and Nissan specifically). This was on vehicles still w/in 3yrs/36K miles, or just beyond that. They'd only repair it if I agreed to split the cost. My cost was very minimal, like under 10% of the total.

"Rust through" coverage is absolutely worthless the way they agree to cover it.
