I have a new to me 2019 1.5 awd equinox with 71,000 miles. Under light acceleration it jerks almost like a miss also does it when getting into the gas like getting on the highway.

I have an obdII scanner and live view shows no miss and no codes. I haven't changed the sparkplugs cause it's cold could that possibly be it? If not any ideas?

What type of code scanner do you have? A more advanced scanner might reveal something. Need to look at fuel trims, MAF/MAP data and O2 sensor data to diagnose further.

More testing is needed. Don't start throwing parts at it and risk introducing additional faults. Why would you? Follow the data not a hunch.

It's just a top scan bi directional Bluetooth to phone app one. It shows live data can run tests its not a 6k one but for what it is it does alot. I don't know what normal fuel trims or maf are for this vehicle and I've looked for them online.

I'm not... well just sparkplugs cause I read to change them every 60k miles but other then that im not. I'm used to old gm v8 vehicles where I know what's wrong just by sound and feel and a little testing.

These new cars which I was reluctant to get are to damn advanced for me. I recently got a extended warranty for that reason and everything is expensive on these cars now, but I have a month and 1000 miles before I can use it just trying to make it.

Could you have a bad batch of fuel? Low system voltage (bad/weak battery?). If you haven't disabled the auto stop/start, you need to do that ASAP. Get one of the hood switch bypass cables off the amazon machine for $10.

In general, fuel trims should not be too positive or too negative, as in the ECM trying to add or take away fuel to compensate for a problem (like a vac leak, etc). MAF or MAP will usually throw instant codes and CEL if something isn't right with them.

The common problems with the 1.5T are frozen or split open charge air coolers. They can get filled with PCV condensation and freeze. You do typically get MAF and MAP codes with that one though. These engines will not run without boost. You might get high idle limp mode at best to get you off the road.

Another important parameter for these GDI engines is fuel pressure at the high pressure fuel pump. The HPFP is a fairly common failure point on GDI engines in general.

Vacuum pump problems result in a brake pedal so stiff, you'll about poop your pants. Worse than that, the pump can bind and break the end off the exhaust cam.

I dont think it's the fuel it's been about a month and I use top tier Gas from 2 different stations.

I was also thinking something froze cause it really started happening when temps got below 0° for a week straight.

Brakes feel fine, and my scanner is dont think shows the high pressure side im going to double check.

one of these days I'm going to change the spark plugs and if that doesn't fix it I'm going to wait until my extended warranty kicks in.

Side note I've done a little research on laser iridium vs iridium and they say the performance drops with the laser it just lasts longer any thoughts?

And thanks for helping me brain storm.

When you say jerking you mean acceleration wise correct? Only reason I ask there is a thread about a front end wobble during acceleration, casue of the problem bad front axles.

I did replace the battery a few weeks after I got the car because a message showed up telling me it needed to be replaced and it was the original battery and tested bad.

I have not gotten the hood bypass yet for now I just put it in "manual" and go to 6th gear so it is disabled. I think auto shutoff is by far the dumbest to save a few bucks in fuel just to out it all back and then some into replacing the starter.
