Hey buddy. My Mother has a 2013 terrain. Same engine. It blew the rear main seal. I pulled the motor changed the seal and did timing chain while it was out. It’s all back together. No leaks and runs fine. But the rpm gauge isn’t working and has crank shaft position sensor code. Any ideas.
It didnt move very easily. But If the codes come back i will do the roll pin idea. That should work and be a lot easier than drilling and tapping for a set screw. As hard as it was to punch around to the location its hard to believe that it would slip that much. But Ive been doing industrial...
I believe I have it. Reluctor must have slipped. I punched it around to match the pic of yours and a pic of one online. Starting fine and no codes so far. If it slips again i may just replace the camshaft but I’m gonna let it ride for now. Thanks again for all of your help.
i was liooking online, and if i have to replace the camshaft, I cant find the exhaust camshafts anywhere. Are you saying that the ex. and int. camshafts are the same?
Im positive on having everthing lined up. I did use the new solenoids that came with the kit. But I had the same code before that. I am sure my connector is good. The only thing is after I changed everything last weekend it started up fine multlple times with no codes. I did a oil and filter...
Ok Thanks. I switched the front and back sensors out last night and had the same result. Code P0017. So seems like it would have to be the reluctor. I had checked my cam sproket positions multiple times before i put all the covers on.
I dont remember that video. I am good on the electrical side. Im not getting the voltage back out of the sensor. I will either put a new sensor in or switch it out with the intake. If you can send me that video on the reluctor location procedure. Thanks
NO luck. I replace everything associated with the timing with a kit from Cloyes. It started right up the first few times. I thought it was good. Then right back to the same issue. I going to look into the elecrical side of the ex. cam sensor. My code reader has a monitor mode. Im not showing any...
I went through it all today. I reset the balance chain, reinstalled the timing chain. Everything was lineup correctly. After that no start. So i put the old chain back on. It starts after 4 or 5 cranks. I’m not sure what to do. I’m wondering if it could be that maybe the parts dont all match up...
Also why does the timing marks on the chain not Match up with arrows on the phasers after a full rotation? Does this mean its the wrong chain or is it just how the ratios work out?
Ok. First thanks for all of your help. I tore back into it. Found the upper chain guide bolt was not treaded in and the hole was wallowed out. Must have been from the other guy that changed timing chain Right before i bought it. I replaced guide and used the new style bolt they have to repair...
Thanks. I was wondering if the chain could be stretched. I hate getting back into it but guess I will. From what i have read crank is TDC then intake is at 2 and Ex. is at 10. Is that correct? its a 2.4. Thanks for the reply
