About 3 weeks ago I too a drive from Sacramento to to Arcata, CA for a meeting. On the way back I was driving on Hwy 20 past Clear Lake when I received a notice on my dash. It told me that they had received a report that there were police ahead on the side of the road. About a half mile later I passed two CHP writing people tickets reconizing their estute driving skills... Now that's something really useful...

Another feature of Google maps is that it marks and sounds a tone to alert you of photo radar cameras. I would guess there may be some law that prevents them from warning to the same level as accidents or other events. These cameras are increasingly common in Canada, keep this in mind of visiting.

On this subject, one of my pet peeves is that people slow down way slower than the speed limit when going past a photo radar camera. I feel like getting a flashing sign mounted on my car letting them know "there is no credit for going slower than the limit". People's over-reactions make these cameras real traffic jam generators. Before anyone gets upset, I am all-in on cameras in school zones. I am not a fan of putting these up just to generate venue. We have more than enough taxes in Canada

I do wish with Wyze or Google Maps you could choose what warning you receive. The one I really don't like is the disabled vehicle on the side of the road. When cruising 95 at 75 mph you get a warning of a disabled vehicle every other minute.
