I have been watching the 8th gear shifting function in my 2025 RS. So far it's only used 8th gear once since the colder weather set in. I'm able to manually shift it to 8th with the paddle shift function and it performs just fine. But if it downshifts due to speed changes it won't go back into 8th again.
Noise problem solved. GM had an update to correct programming in the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). The excess howling in very cold weather is gone. Took about an hour. Re; not shifting into 8th gear. Received a technical bulletin indicating customers may raise the issue of not shifting into 8th gear. The programming is selecting the gear best suited for the conditions.
