So how bad is this ice

Just a little bit past halfway you will see the best type of car to be driving out there today.

It's 15* and the wind chill is a nice warm -5*
And we are not going to go above freezing till Saturday and might get more snow Thursday night.

It feels like it.
We have rolling blackouts going on this morning and that's not good with the temps as low as they are.

I have my pipes wrapped it's 2 pm and only 20* and the wind chill is 7*.

I'm about to get ready to go to work.

It was not to bad out there.

The drive to work today was fun.
1 car in the left lane about 2 cars back spun out and almost got smashed by a big rig.
Then going north on I 35 were the bridge goes over 121 the big rig in the center lane lost traction and the drive wheels came over in my lane.
I slowed down a bit and he got traction and then the big rig next to me started to do the same thing and I was able to get enough traction to get away from him.

O and to top it off I have no heat in the house and only 1 space heater and walmart is sold out and no telling when I can get someone here to fix the furnace.

Was not fun driving home but the Terrain handled it well.




Bad thing is this is a dry snow and makes the ice slicker then ice.

I got to say that this is just crazy, I have not seen ice and snow like this for at least 25 years.
We have had a lot of snow in recent years but it only last a day or 2, this time we had ice first Tuesday and now it's Friday and are getting snow on top of the ice that was still on the ground.
Bad thing is we still have some ice on the roads and this is a dry snow so it makes the ice even slicker then ice alone.
I left work around 12:30 am and we already had over 3 inches (they said only 1/2 to 1 inch was going to fall) and had to go I35 South to I30 East and to get to I 30 East bound I had to go up and over both I30 and I35. This is a long steep over pass and I knew that it was going to be slick.
So I got up to 35 mph so I would not have to give it much gas to make it to the top of the overpass
Passed 3 Big Rigs and 6 cars, trucks that were stuck, sideways or sliding back wards.
1 guy in a BMW was just passed a Van and he was right in the middle of the road so I had to go left around the van then right around him. He was spinning the back wheels like crazy and just sitting there going nowhere.
The Terrain just chugged up the over pass with out any problems and got me all the 22 miles it takes to get home.

All though would you say it was dry if all the water froze as your rinsed it off?
t's not wet anymore.

You guys had it much worse with the precip than we did out west. High here Wed was 11 and Thur it was 12. I won't ever be moving north of Texas, that's for sure.

yes it is, got up to 50 today but then it might snow again tonight then again Wed.
Next weekend looks to be great
