Hi, I just joined to pass on some information because forums have been helpful to me in repairing my vehicle. I have a 2013 Chevy Equinox with the 2.4 which I haven't been too good about changing the oil in a timely manner. Recently, I had the code P0011 show up, so I changed the VVT solenoids and took it in for an oil change. The next day the code was gone, but the engine made a rattling sound when I started it that morning, and from then on, it rattled whenever I cold started it. To make a long story short, I read somewhere that some brands of oil filters will allow the oil to drain out of the filter canister when the vehicle sits and some will not. Of course, if you have no oil in the filter canister the engine is going to rattle on start up. I don't know what brand the oil change shop used, but I opened up the canister and it was dry, so I put a new Fram Extra Guard filter in. It rattled on the first start, because there was no oil in the filter housing, but then I let it sit overnight and tried it again the next morning. Problem solved, no rattle on start up. Hope this helps someone.
