I put in a destination to a place I basically knew how to get to. Halfway there I realized that there was no sound. I quickly switched over to OnStar and still had no sound. I tried a few things but nothing helped. I tried again today with the same results but I heard the radio lower at each turn to allow you to hear the directions like they were there. When I got to the next turn as the radio lowered I hit the volume up button on the steering wheel. The message on the bottom of the screen went from usually saying AUDIO VOLUME to NAVIGATION VOLUME. They operate separately but use the same buttons
There may be a better way to do it but I was getting ready to go back to my Garmin GPS so I'm glad this worked. Also I have heard some owners have the directions voice commands blaring out loudly so this is how to lower them.
