I keep seeing ads for these bright backup lights.

Has anyone installed them? Are they plug and play? Some on YouTube showed they required resisters, but they are older videos.

Before I order, I'd love some input. It's for a 2016 lt.

Thanks, Janet

I've heard some say that if you go too bright on backup lights it can wash out the camera. Also, the reasoning behind resistors is to fool the BCM into thinking it is the same as the older bulb, which has a different current draw. Yes, your car monitors light bulbs so it can report if one is out to you.

I had put some brighter LEDs in my 2013 Nox with no issues, they were Canbus type (built in resistor). 2013 should be very similar to 2016.

On my 2022 I have HD Surround cameras and somehow when I put the car in reverse the display is so bright I am thinking a brighter bulb would wash it out. While my backup lights do not seem super bright, the camera technology brightens things immensely.
