Hey all, we are new owners of a new '11 Nox LS. It's for my wife. She loves it. The only thing she wants that didn't come stock is remote start.

Anyone know how to add a FACTORY unit?

The *SALES* guy told me it was as simple as buying a new key fob/key and having service program it. I find it hard to believe. Haven't found any solutions on my Google searches thus far.

Yeah I have my doubts as you do. Or at least it seems it should be a little more involved than this.

What does your key fob have?

Is it this one?

Well I am guess this is the one that you would have to get and this is the one I have.

IMO, its worth a try if you order the keyfob from www.gmpartsdirect.com it will save you some money and if it don't work out you can sell the key fob on this site or ebay...

I know I could always use another key :p

I can see it being a new key fob and a reflsah of the BCM but I can also see GM forbidding the dealers to do this.

The parts guy at my dealership told me it could not be added. Said it can only come from the factory with remote start. But I have my doubts about the knowledge of this particular parts guy. I might call our sales lady there and get her to do some fact finding for us next week.

This would be a great thing to figure out. I too have searched the net for this and have come short.

If anyone figures this out make sure you let us know! :D

I have searched high and low on the internet for this and all I find are lots of questions on if it is possible, but no answers. I have not had a return call from my dealership yet about this. I'll call them back tomorrow. I'll figure this out one way or another.

Well, I talked to the parts manager at my local dealership today. He said if the Equinox did not come from the factory with remote start, you cannot add the GM remote start system...yet. In the next couple of months GM is coming out with a remote start system you can add to any Equinox without it. But it is not possible to get a remote start key fob and program it to a Nox without the internal system. Of course you can always get and after market system. I'm going to wait for the GM system. Hope this helps!

You got to watch out for those dealers. They will try to sell you something and leading you to believe it will work. But it won't...

That's a bummer.
My Terrain is the first car with remote start and I love it.

It sure is nice to have the Silverado warm when it's below freezing outside. We hate not having it in our Equinox. Hopefully GM will get that out soon.

My brother wanted remote start installed in his 2010 LS. He was told by the dealership, who he has a very good relationship with, that it was not possible to add one to an LS.
