I noticed that when I switch the gear selector to Drive, even while in that position, it is in (I) which I believe is called Intermediate. The dash displays this and it drives as though it is in this gear. I believe this is meant for towing and winding/hilly roads, specifically locking out Overdrive.This is an issue because I am driving under normal road conditions - I live in a relatively flat area.. The car is shifting hard and reaching high rpm’s when doing so. Unless I absolutely bury the pedal, which I never want to do, it both up and downshifts hard. The CEL is on, but after scanning myself, and with the help of a garage, the only code pulled was (P0405) which shows low voltage to the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation.) I’m addressing that after I solve the gearing issue.I spent all day trying to find a culprit and I am spent and stumped. I’m hoping someone can shed some light here. My initial thought was that the shift cable wasn’t catching Drive and had just skipped over it, but I had a friend shift between each position as I watched under the hood and verified that it is engaging each one. Unless the cable needs adjusted somehow for a precise throw, I don’t believe it is causing this. That leads me to believe that it is an electrical issue, but I don’t know how to find out what it could be.If anybody here has experienced this problem and found a resolution, I will be forever grateful if you can help me resolve this.
