    Towing advice ?

I missed the significance of that particular sentence earlier so I want to reinforce it for readers. While there is no "rule of thumb" for that ratio that I could find, it just makes sense for smaller, lighter tow vehicles. Unlike a real truck these are primarily passenger vehicles that also can...

Update on flat tow procedure for 2023 - 2024 Equinox - new guidance from GM

Both of those articles are from before the revised procedure. The 2023 and 2024 Equinox have a new always-on electrically assisted braking system, unlike the 2022 and older. That caused the front tires to screech and move erratically and occasionally smoke on long, extended turns, cloverleafs...

Update on flat tow procedure for 2023 - 2024 Equinox - new guidance from GM

GM cares nothing about things they do not sell or install. Disconnecting the negative cable is the safest way for potentially inexperienced people. That being said, it is 100% acceptable to put a disconnect switch on the positive post. As long as all wires are removed from one post or the other...

    Towing advice ?

Fixed, thanks! Remember, brakes on a vehicle are only designed to stop the weight of the GVWR, never the GCWR. 1,500 lbs would be 30% of our GVWR. With two adults, two suitcases and the dogs we're probably using 550 of my 970 lbs. Pulling an unbraked trailer of 1,500 lbs would be asking our...

Haha, I imagine she's about as glad she posted as you are that you got me started on calculating safe towing limits. :)

    Towing advice ?

I stand corrected. I found my sticker at the very bottom of the "B" pillar, the vertical column between the front and rear seats, previously covered in dirt... GCWR from the Owners Manual = 7,694 lbs GVWR from the sticker - 4,850 lbs Front axle GAWR - 2,590 lbs Rear axle GAWR - 2,645 lbs...

    Turning radius

I had Michelin Defender 2's installed last year. The ride actually feels better than the OEM Hankook tires but that may be new rubber versus old rubber. What tire pressure do you use cold? It should be 35 PSI, or what your door jamb sticker says, not the pressure molded into the sidewall of the...

    Towing advice ?

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised to see you write that. Way too many people believe that the hitch capacity establishes how much a vehicle can safely tow 100% of the time and that almost is never the case. They probably were told that by a salesperson or read it in a sales brochure. :( As...

    Turning radius

Nice find and that explains it for me. I bought my 2020 Premier used and it came with the 19" wheels. As an added bonus those 235/50R19 tires are a lot more expensive. :)

    Turning radius

GM needs to up their game. :) Our Ford gas motorhome with 22.5" wheels has a curb-to-curb turning diameter of 72.0 feet. It has a 242" wheelbase and a wheel cut of 42 degrees. We might be able to do a U-turn on a 6-lane interstate if we used the berms...

    Towing advice ?

You may have mixed up GVWR with (curb weight + payload). Our 2020 Equinox Premier AWD with the 2.0L and 9-speed and every possible option CAT Scale'd at 3,950 with a full tank of fuel with my usual junk inside but no people inside. Mine is the heaviest model. The curb weight on the 2020 LS is...

2023 LT - Is there a factory remote start add=on

Agreed. With any industry it's rarely the actual technology that is the issue. It's almost always the implementation (installation).

2020 premier rear hatch kick illumination

Yeah, I don't know who thought that method was a good idea... My 2016 Sonata, like the newest Equinox apparently, used the proximity of the key fob to open the rear hatch. Stand behind the car for a few seconds and it starts beeping and the lights start blinking. If you do not move away within...

2023 LT - Is there a factory remote start add=on

When our kids were little we needed a new car. We test drove one with hand-crank windows to try and save money. During the drive the older kid asked "Where is the button to open the windows?" I replied "This car does not have buttons. You need to turn that crank." She replied "Oh, like...

2023 LT - Is there a factory remote start add=on

I'll be the contrarian here. :) We had a CompuSTAR 2-way remote start installed on our daughter's 2012 Fusion ten years ago and it has worked flawlessly since. "2-way" means the car sends a radio signal back to the remote to confirm the engine started. We did NOT get the cellular option. This...

We do, as others noted. :) Did you perhaps mean "any" instead of "all"?

    Towing advice ?

Since you do not have the factory towing package you may or may not have the Tow/Haul button. It's not mandatory to tow but helps the vehicle adapt to the heavier load. If you have it, use it while towing.

Thanks. My 2020 is not the Redline edition and I also have no light.

    Aftermarket wireless CarPlay

No, however I know that CarPlay, unlike Android Auto, is very bandwidth-intensive and an adapter that only uses Bluetooth will not cut it. The good ones use both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi part is used to supply the extra bandwidth needed by CarPlay. But it's not like regular Wi-Fi. It's...
