GM had a problem we both paint bubbling on the aluminum hoods. Myself, I would prefer the steel, plus it is probably cheaper. For the little amount of weight you will save with aluminum, just skip one meal, and you make up for it.

I would see what the recommendations are from your owners manual. Sounds like your dealer is trying to pad their wallet.
