I just bought a set of oil cap removal tools on eBay for around $22 or you can buy the individual ones for $10. As was said above, there’s no need to take anything off.
I have had good success on my 2013 (132k) by switching away from synthetic oil to a 10/40 high mileage syn blend oil. I went from 3+ qts every 5k miles to 1 qt every 3k miles. Haven’t noticed any drop in gas mileage or engine sounds. Not having to check your oil levels. Every few days is a...
Yes the shortages are still around. Unfortunately mine had a crack in it so I had to replace the whole trans transfer case unit. $3000 rebuilt installed.
If you’re using synthetic stop. Go to a higher grade synthetic blend or Dino oil. I switched to a high mileage. 10W-40 Syn blend because I have 130,000 on mine It cut my oil consumption to less than half of what it was with synthetic
Is it a 2.4 or 3.6 motor? How many miles? If it's a 2.4 you can have the crap piston ring issues common in 2010-2013 motors. You need to monitor your oil levels regularly. If you do have the 2.4, scrap using synthetic oil and switch to high mileage syn blend. Mine started going thru oil about...
As far as your excessive oil usage, are you using synthetic? If you are a dump that crap and switch to High mileage syn blend, 10-30 in the winter and if needed 10-40 in the summer. I went from going through 4 quarts in 5000 miles to 1 quart in 3000 miles. Plus the high mileage oil is better...
Do you have the excess oil burning issue? Could be clogging the Cat. I have the dreaded P420 also. I clear the code and it reappears about every 2 weeks. Mine still runs very smoothly with solid MPG numbers.
My 2013 has a recall for the after cat O2 sensor which threw a 420 code. Had the recall done. Mine threw a 420 code 2 or 3x after the recall. I cleared the code 2x and after 3rd time it cleared on its own. I would change both O2 sensors before changing the Cat
Try checking marketplace on Facebook. People are always selling lightly used winter tires already on the rims. You just have to find something that will work size wise for you
Let a good microfiber towel be your friend. They are very grippy and will hold dust instead of pushing it around. After cleaning dressing has many options. Everyone seems to have their personal choice but most would work just fine.
I just bought a 2013 LT w/50k miles for $9900. The whole car inside and out is almost flawless. Some of the things you give up on a rebuilt title is no warranty, lower resale and the peace of mind your car has no underlying issues from an accident. You are also limited on companies that will...
